TUESDAY EVENINGS: TUTORED GROUP SESSIONS

Join me on Tuesday evenings for classes with a rolling schedule of technical focuses, so you’re constantly learning and never bored! With all techniques taught I share fashion references to give a historical background and visual inspiration.

FULL DAY SEWING WORKSHOPS

Register your interest to join Hayley in inspiring full day workshops based around the work of some of the most iconic designers - escape into your creativity and learn an abundance of new techniques! The workshops would include lunch and light refreshments.

Tuesday 8th July

MIXED ABILITY

In this session we’ll be diving into the world of frills, ruffles and godets! Together we’ll cover some of the most effective techniques for a beautiful result with these flamboyant and glamorous details. As a top up from the last class, we’ll also be covering a few techniques to sew super-smooth darts.

We’ll go over each step together including how you can adapt any of your patterns to include these features without affecting the fit. All techniques taught are backed up by beautiful fashion references for historical background and inspiration.

For all classes, you’re encouraged to bring along anything you’re currently working on for any troubleshooting and project guidance.

MIXED ABILITY

In this session we’ll be covering an extremely practical design detail with lots of room for decorative flair: the patch pocket. Together we’ll go through all the steps needed to create beautiful and strong pockets with your own personalised stitched detail, and constructing flaps to finish them off.

We’ll go over each step together including how you can adapt standard pocket patterns to create your own customised design. All techniques taught are backed up by beautiful fashion references for historical background and inspiration.

In this session we’ll be tackling a detail that isn’t as scary as it seems: the zip! Together we’ll cover 2 common methods of inserting a zip into your garments in as neat and pain-free a way as possible: covered and invisible zips.

We’ll go over each step in detail together, including how to ensure your zip always lines up as it should! All techniques taught are backed up by beautiful fashion references for historical background and inspiration.

In this session we’ll be deconstructing the waistband and understanding what makes a great one! We’ll go through each step involved in making one, including trying out a curved waistband and seeing the change this makes to fit.
